It depends whether the agent is a specialist in cruises or not.
Whatever method you choose, do plenty of online research on different companies and what there costs cover. There are plenty of websites where experienced cruise passengers give their advice, too.

  2. Travel agents typically do not charge more but the amount of personal attention may be good for you if you’re a ‘nervous’ traveller. Most agents are really interested in you having a great time and will do everything to ensure that your time is spent relaxing as opposed to hassling or being hassled over details. I have also found BJ’s and Costco have really good prices and customer service. Contact the cruise line to check out what they’re offering and then try to beat their prices with some of the cruise dedicated travel sites. I have tried several different methods and I’ve been very happy with my choices. Have a terrific time – hope you’ll be happy whatever you choose.

  3. A travel agent is the way to go. They will find you the best deals around, but booking through a cruise line will not find you any deals. A travel agent will not cost you more money and very likely save you money. Also, a travel agent is there to answer and make suggestions based on experience. The cruise company simply wants to book the cruise. I have booked 3 different ways, through a cruise company, a live travel agent, and a on line travel agent. After 10 cruises, I still prefer booking though a live travel agent.

  4. It should be the same price. Actually my agent finds me deals and gets me room upgrades. AND hows this “I’ve moved 3000 miles away from my agent and I still call her to book my cruises”!
A cruise is a cruise is a cruise. there are good and there are bad. You will never know until you get home which you will get. BUT a good agent is worth their wieght in gold.
I use Carolyn at 604-786-6063 toll free1-866-533-9535. She’s part of a larger company with offices all around North America both Canada and the States give her a shout and say Dave from Ontario sent you. You’ll love her.

  5. well its up to your preference. i have booked different cruises in many ways. i agree though find the cruise you want through the cruise line web site, then start shopping for the best price. call your agent and tell them what you want. and see what happens. some times they do get deals because of the amount of volume they do. i am a late booker this has always worked great for me, if this is possible for you i would try it. start searching 30 days before you want to go. just remember you will have to have the money ready to pay right then. last year 4 of us went on a 9 night royal caribbean from new york for $1600 but we booked ten days before it left.

  6. Book it online. You can use the cruiseline, but Travelocity is cheaper and I’ve always gotten my documents and everything on time. I’ve done it both ways and booking online through the cruise ship website costs more. AARP used to do cruises and they were cheap too.

  8. It will NOT cost more to book through a travel agent! Not a penny! I am not a travel agent, but always book everything through my travel agent, who does an excellent job!
